24-Bit Color - Definition
24-Bit Color, in computer graphics, is also known as True Color. True Color can imitate far more colors found in the real world, producing 16.7 million distinct colors. 24-bit True Color uses 8 bits to represent red, 8 bits to represent blue and 8 bits to represent green. Therefore, (256 × 256 × 256) equals 16,777,216 mixed colors. 24-Bit Color on the Macintosh is referred to as millions of colors.
