Applet - Definition
An Applet is actually a diminutive form of app, which is short for application. It refers to simple, single-function programs that often ship with a larger product such as your operating system. Programs such as Windows File Manager, Calculator, and Notepad are examples of applets. Essentially, all the individual utilities that you find within the Window’s Control Panel are applets.
