Arpanet - Definition
Arpanet is an abbreviation for Advanced Research Projects Agency Network. The agency was developed by the eponymous research agency in the 1960s as the first, large scale, packet switched network and the predecessor of the global Internet. Arpanet is still in use today, connecting a large number of universities in the U.S. and Europe, as well as commercial users.
