Aspect Ratio - Definition
Aspect Ratio refers to the relation between a display area’s width and height. For example, in a traditional 4:3 aspect ratio, the display is defined by four horizontal length units for every three vertical length units. In a 16:9 aspect ratio, the width is elongated to a more pronounced rectangle. The typical monitor resolutions: 640 x 480 through 1600 x 1200 all employ a 4:3 aspect ratio.
