Compression - Definition
Compression is the translation of audio, digital data, or video into a more compact form for storage and transmission. Computer algorithms and techniques such as ETSI, G.722, JPEG or MPEG enable data content compression. It is a digital process that allows data to be stored or transmitted using less than the normal number of bits. Video compression refers to techniques that reduce the number of bits required to store or transmit images.
