Fast Packet Switching - Definition
Fast Packet Switching refers to high-speed packet-switching networks, such as frame relay and Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) that perform little or no error checking. The term is often, however, restricted to high-speed networking technologies, such as ATM, that transmit fixed-length cells rather than including those, such as frame relay, that transmit variable-length packets.
