Fault Tolerance, in computer networking, refers to the ability to withstand severe problems that can bring a network to a standstill, damage hardware, or cause loss of data. Although all computers and operating systems should be as fault-tolerant as possible, network hardware and operating systems must strive to be paragons of virtue in this regard.
