Firewire - Definition
Firewire, also known as i.Link or IEEE 1394, is a standard of serial bus interface for high-speed communications and real-time data transfer. IEEE 1394 has been adopted as the High Definition Audio-Video Network Alliance (HANA) standard connection interface for audio/visual (A/V) component communication and control. Almost all modern digital camcorders include this connection. FireWire 400 can transfer data between devices at 100, 200, or 400 Mega bits per second. FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b) can transfer data among devices at 786 Mega bits per second.
