Hits - Definition
A Hit is a measure of the number of people visiting a web site. However, hits actually refer to the total number of elements downloaded to a browser, such as Mozilla Firefox. For example, a web page with 5 images causes 5 hits for those images every time it is loaded, regardless if the person is visiting for the first time or just hit the refresh button. Thus, hits are seldom used to count traffic.
