ICANN is an abbreviation for Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. It is a California non-profit corporation that was created in 1998 and recognized by the U.S. government to administer the Internet’s core technical functions and develop competition among domain name registrars. Its primary tasks include managing the assignment of domain names and IP addresses.
