Meta Tag - Definition
A Meta Tag is a series of commands in the HTML code, residing in the page header, that instruct a browser, such as Mozilla Firefox, or search engines to perform specific tasks, identify keywords, site definitions, authors, plug-in requirements, etc. These tags are not visible to site visitors as they are only visible in the code. Meta tags describe the content of the document in which they are written.
