Partition Table - Definition
A Partition Table is also know as the Master Boot Record (MBR). When a hard drive is partitioned, the Master Boot Record is created. The Partition Table contains information on how the disk is organized and which partition contains the operating system. The partition containing the Operating System is considered the Active Partition because it will be used to boot up or start the computer.
