Windows Vista™ temporarily stores your deleted files and folders in the Recycle Bin until you empty them. This gives you an opportunity to recover accidentally deleted files and restore them back to your computer and to their exact location. Follow the instructions below to recover deleted files.
To Recover Recycle Bin Files
- On the desktop, double click directly on the Recycle Bin.
- To restore an individual file, right click the file and then click on Restore to recover it.
- To restore all Recycle Bin files, on the toolbar, click the Restore all items option.
- Windows Vista will then restore all stored files in the Recycle Bin to their original location.
Note: Restoring a Recycle Bin item returns that item to its original location. If a file was located in a deleted folder, the folder is recreated in its original location, with the file restored in that folder.
