Registry - Definition
The Registry is referred to as the central storehouse and controlling body of domain names. There is a Registry for each extension. For instance, VeriSign Global Registry is the organization that controls all .COM domain names. All ICANN Accredited Registrar, such as Network Solutions and GoDaddy, interact with the VeriSign and other Registries to register domain names for customers.
