W3C - Definition
W3C is an abbreviation for the World Wide Web Consortium. It is a standards body based in the United States, Europe, and Japan. The W3C ("double-yew-three-see") is dedicated (in part) to encouraging the development of open Web standards, such as the HTML and XML document markup languages.
