World Wide Web - Definition
World Wide Web refers to the collection of all the resources (HTML documents, images, and other files, as well as CGI interface programs) accessible on the Internet mainly via HTTP but also via older protocols and mechanisms, such as FTP or Gopher, which are supported by most web browsers. The emergence of web browsers, such as Opera and Mozilla Firefox, has made access to these resources achievable to a broad base of users beyond the more technically savvy traditional users of the Internet who relied on less user-friendly access tools than currently available browsers.
