Zip Drive - Definition
A Zip Drive is a high-capacity floppy disk drive developed by Iomega Corporation. They are slightly larger than conventional floppy disks and about twice as thick. They are available as 100 megabyte capacity drives or 250 megabyte capacity drives. Because they were inexpensive and durable, they were a popular media for backing up data and for transporting large files. This technology was short-lived with the advent of CD-Rom burner drives, later replaced by the DVD burner drive.
